 Andrea Houck has always had an eye for details and a passion for design. At the age of four, she pointed out to her parents that her newly installed bedroom wallpaper was upside-down, a fact that the adults had not noticed. Growing up in North Carolina, the nation’s furniture capital, Andrea comes from a long tradition of working in the world of design. A career in a creative field was a given. Andrea began that career in advertising and art direction. As graphic design became increasingly computer-based, Andrea longed for a more tactile creative outlet. In 2000, she decided to return to her roots and pursue her early passion – interior design. Andrea’s creative venture, A. Houck Designs, is a full-service interior design firm based in Arlington, Virginia. Andrea Houck is a professional member of the International Furnishings and Design Association. She has been published in Washington Spaces Magazine and The Washington Post. Andrea also won a 2007 Kitchen & Bath of the Year Award from Washington Spaces Magazine for her own kitchen. Andrea gives back to her community by supporting numerous charitable projects. She helped build homes for Habitat for Humanity on St. Johns Island, South Carolina, in the spring of 2009. In 2006 and 2007, Andrea participated in the Georgetown Jingle, a fundraiser for Georgetown University Hospital’s pediatric cancer program. She also co-chaired from 2003 through 2006 the Tuckahoe Home & Garden Tour to benefit Tuckahoe Elementary School. Process |
