This family room is one of our all-time favorites—and it even earned a First Place Award of Excellence from ASID. With a faux-finished fireplace, rich textures, and a nature-inspired palette, it’s a space made for gathering and relaxing.
Just beyond the French doors, the screened porch offers a seamless connection to the outdoors. Durable Brown Jordan furnishings, custom pillows, and layered earth-toned neutrals using Lee Jofa fabrics, Kravet upholstery, and Michael James Custom Furniture tables, make it a spot to enjoy the view in every season.

In this Arlington Colonial, we reimagined each space with a traditional-with-a-twist thread tying it all together. The living room’s builder-grade fireplace was transformed with honed Crema Marfil marble and architectural trim, turning an afterthought into a true focal point.
Down the hall, the study took on earthy elegance with caramel-glazed built-ins, dark grasscloth walls, and Lee Jofa floral drapery framing the leafy view. It’s now a warm and sophisticated work-from-home retreat.

Over the next few posts, we’re spotlighting one of our favorite whole-house transformations: an Arlington Colonial brought to life with a cohesive, traditional-with-a-twist design. From the foyer to the family room, each space has its own personality while still feeling part of a larger story

We’ve been honored to work with these clients for more than a decade, transforming almost every corner of their home—most recently, three bathrooms. First up: the welcoming double-story foyer, where a custom hand-tufted rug, damask wallcovering, and thoughtful details set the tone for everything that follows.

The best outdoor spaces blend durability with beauty. Clean-lined teak seating by the fireplace, woven host chairs at the dining table, striped outdoor rugs to tie it all together—every detail makes a difference. With the right furniture and finishing touches, your porch or patio can be just as captivating as any room inside. If you want to enjoy a space like this next year, it is time to start planning!

As fall begins, now’s the time to create outdoor spaces you’ll love year-round. This Arlington bungalow’s all-season porch is a favorite: two distinct zones, thoughtfully furnished for both lounging and dining, each with its own personality. The result is comfortable, stylish, and ready for everything from casual drinks to cozy fall evenings. Take a closer look on the blog Creating Spaces ®.

Pastel linens, rattan placemats, jewel-toned blooms, and mini hydrangea favors made this Capitol Hill backyard soirée pure summer charm. We blended new finds, beloved heirlooms, and fresh florals to create a celebration that was both effortless and unforgettable.
